David Smith, DNP, RN, FNP-CDavid Smith is proud to be a part of Nacogdoches Health Partners.
David is a San Augustine native with deep family roots in the area. He graduated from Panola College in 2007 with an Associate's Degree in Nursing, and then completed his BSN and MSN at Western Governors University. He earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Loyola University in 2016. He is licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing and the Washington State Board of Nursing, and he is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Omicron Eta Chapter, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the National Kidney Foundation.
Smith spent the past several years on the faculty at Stephen F. Austin State University's Richard and Lucille DeWitt School of Nursing, where he served as assistant professor and simulation lab coordinator. He is returning to the medical field because he misses interacting with patients and helping them overcome their health issues. Smith began his nursing career at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, where he worked on the medical-surgical floor and served as the infection control nurse and the employee health nurse, and also cross-trained in stepdown ICU, chemotherapy administration, recovery room, cardiac rehab and cardiac cath lab.
David and his wife, Jennifer, first met in high school and have been married for 13 years. They have two children: Hannah, who is into basketball and softball, and Colton, who loves animals, farming and anything with really big tires. The family lives in Blackjack and attends Chireno Baptist Church, where David is a deacon and teaches Children's Church.
